How to Play Kentucky Pick 4

Kentucky Pick 4 is a really easy game to play as you only have to select four numbers, and they are all between 0 and 9. There are just a couple more steps to follow than most lotteries, because you have so many options for how to play.

Drawings take place twice a day, at 1:20 PM ET (12:20 PM CT) and 11:00 PM ET (10:00 PM CT). Use the guide below to help you fill out a playslip.

Start by selecting the four numbers you want to play. Choose one from each line on the playslip or get a Quick Pick if you would prefer to let the computer select a random set for you.

There are a few ways to play in Kentucky - Straight, Box or Straight/Box - depending on whether you want to match the numbers exactly or in any order. See the Ways to Play page for details.

Decide how much to wager - $0.50 or $1. You can even pay more per play, up to a maximum of $10. The more you wager, the more you can win for your selected wager type.

Specify whether you want to enter your numbers into the Midday draw, the Evening draw, or both. You can also play up to seven days in advance with the Multi-Draw option.

Play It Again

If you like to play the same numbers on a regular basis, you can take advantage of the 'Play It Again' option. There's no need to fill in a new playslip - just hand an old ticket to the retailer and ask for it to be replayed. You will be given a new entry that matches the previous one but starts from the next draw, with all the same selections and the same cost.

Ticket Cut-Off Times

Tickets are available until right before the drawings take place. The Midday cut-off is at 1:20 PM ET (12:20 PM CT), with the numbers drawn immediately afterwards. You can buy tickets for the Evening draw until 10:55 PM ET (9:55 PM CT), before the draw a few minutes later.

How to Win

To win a Pick 4 prize, you need to match the four numbers you have selected to the ones that are drawn. However, you need to match them according to the conditions of your chosen wager type. If you play a Straight, for example, there is no prize for having the same numbers but in a different order. Go to the Odds and Prizes page to see all the possible payouts.
